The leaking iPhone 13 shows a larger camera, the iPhone 14 said it has a 48MP sensor

Apple seems ready to improve the iPhone camera in various ways over the next few years. The new leaks reveal plans for an even larger camera module on the back and a massive 48MP image sensor inside.

CAD leaks show Bigger Bump on iPhone 13

TotulApplePro has published claims that CAD has been leaked for the future iPhone 13, which should be released later this year.

Here are some illustrations that compare the dimensions of the iPhone 13 Pro Max camera module compared to the current iPhone 12 Pro Max module:

If the leaked CADs are accurate, the square module can come out 31% more (3.65 mm compared to 2.78 mm), making the phone thickness 3.33% higher (7.65 mm compared to 7.40 mm). It seems that the module will be 3.38 mm higher and 4.77 mm wider.

The camera module of the 12iPhone 12 Pro Max‌ will be 15% wider and 9.9% taller.

The iPhone 13 Pro camera module will have an even larger increase in size and width and a similar increase in prominence. The considerably larger module will include a larger LiDAR sensor for better accuracy for corners, edges and AR, MacRumors reports.

A 48 megapixel camera on the iPhone 14

In a note to investors that was seen by MacRumorsMing-Chi Kuo, a respected Apple analyst, wrote that the “iPhone 14”, which will be launched in 2022, will have a 48-megapixel camera to take iPhone photography “to a new level”.

In terms of pixel size, ‌iPhone 12‌, iPhone 13 and the new 2H22 ‌iPhone‌ are about 1.7um, 2um and 1.25um, respectively. We believe that the new 2H22 ‌iPhone‌ can support 48MP direct output and 12MP output (four-cell fused output mode) simultaneously. With 12MP output, the CIS pixel size of the new 2iPhone‌ 2H22 increases to about 2.5um, which is significantly larger than ‌iPhone 12‌ and ‌iPhone 13‌ and larger than existing Android phones and close to the DSC level. We believe that the camera quality of the new 2H22 ‌iPhone fotografia will take the mobile phone camera photography to a new level.

Kuo also notes that the high-end iPhone will be able to record 8K videos. Looking ahead, Kuo believes that Apple will start using a periscope telephoto lens in 2023 (something the company patented years ago and which competitors have already launched).
