You don’t see that every day.
In Saturday’s eighth inning against Cleveland, Reds linebacker Amir Garrett gave up the back-to-back singles that put runners on dead ends. Josh Naylor followed with a ball at first base, where Joey Votto caught the ball and scored Franmil Reyes. Thinking that the ball hit the ground first, Eddie Rosario went home while Votto held the ball and waited.
Votto threw the ball to the third base, where Rosario was out of a triple play. It was the 31st triple track in Reds history and the first in Cincinnati since Todd Frazier finished the feat on July 25, 2017, at Yankee Stadium.
Votto screamed in excitement as the crowd at Great American Ball Park came to life to show their approval.
