Fitbit works on a “luxury” fitness tracker

Fitbit seems to be close to launching its first device since Google closed its acquisition, but it’s not a Wear OS smartwatch. In any case, the company could return to its roots. WinFuture shared what he says are details about Fitbit Luxe, a “luxury” fitness tracker (via 9to5Google). The device centers around a stainless steel case with an OLED screen, and the interchangeable straps seem to be a cut above the leafless bands you usually see with these trackers. Fitbit promises “balanced health in an elegant design”. Consequently, Luxe would include GPS, a heart rate monitor and a water resistance suitable for swimming.

It is not certain when Fitbit could release the luxury tracker, although the depth of the leak suggests that it will come soon. The biggest challenge for Fitbit may be the price. Although he clearly hopes to reach a premium audience, he must also compete with a wave of cheap but powerful fitness clothing that could be good enough for many people. We also wouldn’t rely on the fact that it represents Fitbit’s long-term future, given Google’s hopes of integration, even if it’s not necessarily the last hurricane for Fitbit’s simpler laptops.
