Gurman: Apple’s “spring-loaded” event won’t feature anything “particularly innovative”

Bloomberg’s highly respected Mark Gurman says he doesn’t expect anything “particularly innovative” or “extraordinary” to be launched at Apple’s “Spring Loaded” event next week, Tuesday, April 20th.

Apple's spring event feature

Gurman made the remarks during an interview for Bloomberg technology, in which he reaffirmed that Apple will launch a new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro, with the latest generation model with a new mini-LED display. Gurman says these new iPads are just an “iterative update” of the iPad line, a family of products increasingly vital to the technology giant due to the global health crisis.

The event will be the first launch of the Apple product in 2021, and speculation about what could be announced is nothing more than rampant. One of the biggest new products expected from Apple is the redesigned iMacs, which Bloomberg previously reported that it will receive a design that is in line with the XDR Pro Display and a stronger Apple silicon chip.

No timeline has been set for when these new iMacs could debut, and Gurman says, “If the iMac is really launched, it will be a big deal. Apple is also preparing to launch AirTags, a plate-like circular tracking device that can be attached and used to locate items such as keys, bags and more.

The event will take place on Tuesday, April 20, and will be broadcast live via Apple’s website, Apple TV app and Apple’s YouTube channel. It will begin at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time, and for those who can’t watch, MacRumors will offer full coverage of events both on MacRumors.com and through MacRumorsLive Twitter account.
