Three other McLean County residents died from COVID-19 complications.
All three were men – one 60 years old and one 70 years old, who did not live in long-term care institutions, and another, in the 1990s, who lived there. There have now been 213 COVID-related deaths in McLean County since the beginning of the pandemic.
The McLean County Health Department (MCHD) reported 53 confirmed or probable cases of coronavirus on Tuesday, as the county’s positive test rate rose to 5.7%.
There are 44 McLean County residents hospitalized with COVID. The capacity of the hospital bed remained at 4%. There are several patients in intensive care. This rate is back up to 88%.
The active pregnancy is interrupted overnight. This figure is now 589, and 545 residents in the county are isolated at home. Another 68 people are considered recovered.
The MCHD has discontinued Johnson & Johnson until further notice. This follows a joint statement by the CDC and the FDA calling for stopping single-dose photos from an “abundance of caution” as health officials look at reports of rare, potentially dangerous blood clots.
Today the FDA and @CDCgov issued a statement regarding Johnson & Johnson # COVID-19 vaccine. We recommend a break from using this vaccine with plenty of caution.

A vaccination clinic scheduled for Tuesday for Wesleyan University students in Illinois has been postponed. The MCHD and the IWU notified those scheduled to be shot. These appointments will be rescheduled.
All other MCHD clinics will continue as planned. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine was not scheduled for distribution at any of the Grossinger Motors Arena clinics this week.
