As reported DeadlineMark Hamill is set to play shirtless comedian Bert Kreischer in a film based on Kreischer’s routine stand-up signature that is billed as “Hangover Meets Midnight Run. “The stand-up piece revolves around a story in which Kreischer goes to Russia as part of a college trip and how – in a moment of panic because he can barely speak the language – he tells a group of mobsters that his name is the Car. “I’m so tickled by this (and Kreischer’s talent for drinking a lot) that I go with him on various alcohol-fueled adventures, culminating in a crazy train robbery, and it’s all totally true ( Here is Kreischer telling the story himself:
The movie – called Car-will serve as a kind of sequel, catching up with Kreischer 20 years after the train robbery, when he and his father (Hamill, probably) are kidnapped by Russian mobsters. So it’s going to be a drunken party movie, crossed with a comedy thriller … so yeah, Hangover Meets Midnight Run, sure.
Interestingly, this will not be the first film based on the life of Bert Kreischer. When he was in college, he was the subject of a Rolling Stone piece about how he was the best partygoer at the biggest party school in the country, leaving him in essence after spending six years getting drunk at Florida State University. Although Kreischer was not involved, that story is supposed to be served as the basis for Van Wilder of the National Lampoon, which means you may not have gotten Ryan Reynolds that we all know and love today, if not for the refusal of this guy to calm down and go to class. Hey, maybe Ryan Reynolds could make a cameo in the movie! And maybe he could play Deadpool in a cameo! And you’re referring to Mark Hamill playing Luke Skywalker!
