Marcus Stroman, the Mets are sweeping Phils in a double head

NEW YORK – So that’s what the 2021 Mets should look like.

Prevented in early April by a disjointed program, five games postponed or suspended, a crime that froze like a blue screen with runners in a scoring position, a bullpen who struggled to finish the games, two top hitters whose order does not produce with difficulty and an increasingly tired fan base of all, the Mets became better versions of theirs on Tuesday in a double sweep of the Phillies at Citi Field.

In doing so, they moved over .500 for the first time in the young season.

A few hours after a 4-3 win in extra time in the middle of the day, the Mets built their most complete game of the season in a 4-0 win over the Phillies overnight, Marcus Stroman completing six closing rounds. Stroman was electric over time, withdrawing his first nine fights and causing two double plays.

The Mets scored all the runs they would need in front of Phillies ace Aaron Nola in the fourth, paying the first on a Jonathan Villar double and the other two on a single Brandon Nimmo.
