Nevada’s Republican Central Committee voted Saturday to denounce Nevada GOP Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske over claims that she failed to prevent widespread voter fraud in the state during the 2020 presidential election.
The Nevada Independent reported that committee voted 126-112 to disapprove of Cegavske over claims that it had failed to “question the reliability of our Nevada elections.”
According to a cover letter obtained by the outlet, the disapproval prohibits Cegavske from receiving party approvals and resources, with the committee citing “the intense dishonor her failures brought to the Nevada Republican Party.”
The party claims to have brought four boxes of evidence that reportedly showed tens of thousands of examples of voter fraud in the 2020 election.
“Irresponsible reporting from the Nevada Secretary of State, who claims without investigation that this election was flawless, triggered these attacks on our Nevada Republican Party,” reads the cover letter.

In a statement to the Independent on Sunday, Cegavske opposed the premise of the party’s disapproval.
“Unfortunately, members of my own political party have decided to disapprove me simply because they are disappointed with the outcome of the 2020 election,” said Cegavske. “My job is to carry out the duties of my office as set by the Nevada legislature, not to carry water for the GOP state or put my thumb on the scale of democracy. Unfortunately, members of my own party remain. believe in the 2020 general election. was committed to fraud – and that I somehow had a share in it – despite a complete lack of evidence to support that belief. “
Despite today’s disapproval by the Central Committee of the Nevada Republican Party, I will continue my efforts to monitor safe elections in Nevada and restore confidence in our election, trust that has been destroyed by those who falsely claim that the 2020 general election is widespread fraud, ‘she added.
