Lasso, the candidate of the CREO Movement and of conservative and liberal ideology, obtained 52.74 percent of the votes in this second electoral round according to the available figures so far, compared to 47.26 percent of the candidate of the Union for Hope (UNES).
After the publication of the live examination of CNE, Lasso used his Twitter account to celebrate that “together we do it!”
“We thank Ecuador for showing its support at the polls. If necessary, we will wait for the official results,” he said, adding that “we are positive and in high faith.”
After the polls closed, polls showed Lasso’s victory in the case of Cedatos by 53.24 percent compared to 46.76 percent in Arauz, while Eurek predicted a tighter result, with 50.97 percent of the vote. . For Lasso and 49.03 for Arauz.
On a day marked by the call for a null vote by the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (CONAIE) after indigenous candidate Yaku Pérez was left out of the second round by a narrow margin, polls give Lasso victory although a margin subtle.
