One of the interesting side effects of last week’s Street Fighter 5 spring update event was that it made the fighting game community talk about the final DLC character planned again for the title, though one seemed to be raised more than anyone else.
After watching the broadcast, some fans were immediately convinced that the fifth fighter in season 5 will be none other than Crimson Viper, but, unfortunately, the arguments for this do not seem to hold water for several reasons.
The “smoking weapon” for most of these hopes Viper came from the Rose presentation section, where the fortune teller’s tarot card pack was presented as a single winning screen.
While the first card thrown on the screen was Karin’s, the beginner Street Fighter 4 appeared in front and in the center of the second, which made everyone take a double take.
My guess is that these true believers assumed that each character featured in the game would appear on the SF tarot drawings, as this might normally make logical sense, but that is not the case at all.
Instead, this deck of cards is based on a real set of tarot cards launched by Capcom in the Japanese special edition of the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary collection.
Both Karin’s and C. Viper’s drawings were taken directly from those previous models and there is even a new one, displayed immediately after with both Rose and Menat on the abnormally arcane number of 30 – perhaps with reference to the 30th anniversary itself.
Before the character of Season 5 was revealed last summer, some even speculated then that the remaining tarot card members would form the DLC list because there were five who were not in SF5: Rose, Oro, Elena, Rolento and C. Viper.
Obviously, Dan and Akira immediately blew this theory out of the water in August, but the mystery of character number 45 remains.
That discredit of tarot cards would usually not be enough to almost completely discredit C. Viper’s inclusion potential, as he is one of the most sought-after candidates left on the sidelines, but that’s not the only reason we’re sure. that is I will not enter.
The key detail is in Capcom’s official roadmap during the first summer update last August.
In the program’s fall 2021 slot, “?” it is shown that the character has three costumes. Why is this important, though?
Well, if we look at the rest of the season list, Rose and Akira each have five extra outfits, while Oro and Dan only have three.
It’s not even a solid confirmation, but that indicates that the final fighter is also a man – thus disqualifying Viper again.
For over five years now, Street Fighter fans have been expecting to see the special agent return in the latest iteration, given that he was one of the most popular newcomers to SF4.
Viper also landed in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, as did Juri, Seth, Rufus and Abel, so the developers seemed to have a lot of confidence in the character as well.
Technically, she has appeared in at least four SF5 character stories and seems to be the one that appears the most, which still can’t be played – except maybe Azam or something.
So what do we know about the latest member of Street Fighter 5? Almost nothing, except that they are probably men – everyone knows that Capcom would jump at the chance to sell a bunch of Viper suits.
The development and marketing teams were very careful not to divulge too much information to even suggest their identity, with the latest official blog posts for the spring update, referring to them as a mystery / unknown character.
We probably won’t have to wait too long to figure out who exactly they are, though, as Capcom has already confirmed that a new summer release will take place in the next few months, where it looks like they’ll be teasing that fifth The fighter will likely be unmasked alongside the new images from Oro and Akira.
Although it seems extremely small, there is still the possibility that Viper will end up in Street Fighter 5, but I would certainly not put money on this bet.
