Prince Harry is expected to attend the funeral of his grandfather, Prince Philip, in the UK – marking his first trip home since giving up the royal family, a source told The Post Friday.
But it is unclear whether pregnant Meghan Markle, who is due to come with the couple’s second child in early summer, will join Harry, even if she wants to be with him, the source said.
Her ability to fly the nearly 12 hours from her home in Sussex, California to England will depend on her doctor’s orders and the airline’s guidance, the source added.
But Harry wouldn’t miss the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral for the world.
“Harry was extremely close to his grandfather,” a British royal source told The Post. “He will, of course, be there, no matter how difficult the relationship between Sussex and family.”
Harry’s expected return to his homeland comes after he and Markle broke up with the royal family in January 2020 – and a few weeks after their interview with Oprah Winfrey, who destroyed Buckingham Palace.
In the unrestricted two-hour meeting, Markle revealed that someone in the royal family had wondered how dark Archie’s son’s skin might be.
In February, Harry said he was keeping in touch with his grandparents through Zoom.
“I’ve grown them a few times,” he told James Corden, the talk show host. “They saw Archie running.”
The Duke of Sussex laughed when he remembered that instead of clicking to leave the call, Prince Philip would turn off his laptop.
“He’s just doing a ‘doof’!” Harry said, pretending to turn off his laptop.
All senior members of the royal family are expected to attend Prince Philip’s funeral at Windsor Castle, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, with a service at St George’s Chapel – where Harry and Meghan were married in 2018.
A representative for Sussex was not available for comment.
