Saving the Orioles wins at Yankee Stadium

NEW YORK – Anthony Santander withdrew Gio Urshela to the plate with a shot from the right field in the 11th half, and the Baltimore Orioles took the lead to defeat the New York Yankees 4-3 on Wednesday night.

Moments before Santander blocked the equalizer with his shot, Sisco’s chance to give Baltimore the lead with one.

Colombian Urshela started in the top of the 11th half as an automatic runner, advancing to the third base thanks to a bunt from Brett Gardner.

DJ LeMahieu followed with a solid line on the right field. Santander caught the ball to get out, sat down and made a perfect shot on the plate, beating the Colombian with a few steps, who swept his head in the glove of Dominican catcher Pedro Severino.

It was Santander’s second big shot in the game, but the first came only late and he couldn’t stop Tyler Wade from getting the equalizer in the 10th half. Santander also hit a home round in the fifth inning.

Sisco’s unstoppable 11th in Chad Green (0-1) brought Rio Ruiz to the Pentagon in the third, after a sacrificial sacrifice by Venezuelan Freddy Galvis. It was Baltimore’s first hit in the fifth inning and fourth overall.

New York accumulated an indisputable 13, but only three, with runners in the scoring position.

César Valdez (1-0), armed mainly with a 76 mph gear change, worked 2 1/3 innings to get the victory. Paul Fry got the first save to end a match of three hours and 54 minutes.

Before Sisco’s shot, four New York relievers withdrew six perfect innings – except for a costly mistake by Venezuelan short film Gleyber Torres – following a solid Jameson Taillon team debut, which had its first start in 707 days.

For the Orioles, the Venezuelans Santander 5-1 with an RBI and two races; Galvis 3-0. Dominicans Maikel Franco and Pedro Severino 4-0 each and Mexican Ramón Urías 3-0.

For the Yankees, Gary Sánchez 3-2. Colombian Urshela 5-2 with an RBI. Venezuelan Gleyber Torres 4-1.
