SPACE – The Ingenuity helicopter, the first plane in the world, touches the surface of Mars

The Ingenuity helicopter, the world’s first plane, touched the surface of Mars after being dropped from the bottom of NASA’s Perseverance rover, completing the complex maneuver of deployment and descent.

The last 10 centimeters of descent, from a total height of 63 centimeters, were completed on April 4, reported by JA (Jet Propulsion Laboratory) of NASA. on his Twitter account, with a picture of Ingenuity taken from Perseverance once he left the helicopter behind.

After a journey on the red planet of 471 million kilometers, The Perseverance rover headed for a site in Jezero Crater designated as a test site for the helicopter, where the flight, scheduled for April 11, will take place.

The helicopter continues to charge the batteries with its solar panel and is completely autonomous for operation. Weighing 1.8 kilograms, the challenge is now to survive the low temperatures of the Martian night.
