DMX lawyer Murray Richman said the hip-hop artist, whose real name is Earl Simmons, had a heart attack.
“I got a call this morning that Earl Simmons was in the hospital at White Plains Hospital, and he had a heart attack and I’m not sure how he was induced and that he’s in life support,” Richman said.
Richman did not say whether the rapper suffered an overdose, as reported by several outlets.
“I’ve talked to family and family and I’m pretty close to each other. I’m worried about his well-being and I’m aware of his significance. I’ve known Earl for over 25 years and I think his music is quite strong, very important. He is truly a poet of our time, “Richman said.
Richman said Simmons made a movie.
Good wishes were brought on social media on Saturday from many celebrities.
Hip hop producer Eric B and rapper colleague Missy Elliott asked fans to pray for DMX.
