The Hip Hop Life DMX icon is in the balance after the rapper suffered an overdose drug on Friday night.
According to TMZ, sources close to the artist “What is my name” claim that the OD took place at 23:00 Sources added that the overdose then triggered a heart attack.
DMX, 50, is currently in the critical care unit of a hospital in White Plains, where he reportedly had “some brain activity.” Another source told TMZ that the artist is currently in a “vegetative state” and doctors have warned that he may not.
Ruff Ryders MC has long struggled with drug addiction, most recently undergoing rehabilitation in October 2019.
The rapper claims that his addiction problems started when he was tricked into smoking crack at the age of 14 – by his mentor.
“I was in Yonkers. This guy, “Ready Ron,” was like a big brother to me, “DMX told his hip-hop colleague Talib Kweli on his” People’s Party “podcast.
“He would kidnap, and I would beatbox,” DMX said. “I loved the guy like an older brother.”
One night after the duo “robbed one night … it was his birthday and we came back and shared the money. I said, “Here you go, get something nice for your birthday.” So he came back with a good roll and I count the money, he passes[ed] the blunt ”.
Holding back tears, he continued: “I hit the blunt and … I was no longer focused on money. I never felt that way, he just understood me. I found out later that he stuck the abutment with crack. Why would you do that to a child? He knew I looked up at him. Why would you do that to someone who looks at you? A monster was born. I wouldn’t do this to my worst enemy. Especially for someone you’re supposed to love. ”
