Four Adventists abducted in Haiti while offering live worship on Facebook

At least four Adventist Christians were abducted while offering a live Facebook service last night in the town of Carrefour, south of Port-au-Prince.

“Around 9 o’clock at night (local time), three heavily armed men entered the room, aimed their weapons and abducted the 4 people. The kidnappers were traveling in two cars,” said Figaro Gréger, president of the Gospel Kreyol ministry.

The victims are Pastor Estimé Audalus and the faithful Welmyr Jean Pierre, Francisco Derival and Steven Jerome. “The name of Jesus is so sweet!” They chanted when they were abducted.

Gréger lamented the “unfortunate” incident and called on the kidnappers to release the four Adventist Christians. He said that so far those who carried out the plagiarism had not communicated to demand redemption.

“Prayer is our weapon. If God allows it, He knows why and (has) the ability to release them,” Greger told the capital’s RTVC radio station.

“It is very unfortunate for the country, it is very unfortunate that this is the situation we live in,” added the nun in charge of the Gospel ministry Kreyol, who conducts a well-known choir in Haiti that aims at virtual evangelism.

The video of the abduction, widely shared on social networks, aroused a wave of indignation among desperate Haitians.

The film shows the horrified religious trying to hide while a man with a long gun puts them on the broadcast stage and forces them to go with him.

In Haiti, dozens of people have been abducted from their homes, offices and streets and this time inside during a live social media service.

Haitian President Jovenel Moise recently called on the country’s political actors to reach a coexistence agreement to cope with growing insecurity and the proliferation of street protests demanding his departure from power.

Armed gangs have taken over territorial control in various parts of the Haitian capital and to a lesser extent in other cities in the country.

Kidnapping is the order of the day in America’s most depressed country, as Moses fights with the opposition, which demands his departure from power, while ensuring that his term ends on February 7, 2022.
