Another 460 COVID-19 cases, 27,583 vaccinations reported Saturday in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Department of Health reported another 460 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state on Saturday, along with 10 more deaths and 27,583 additional vaccines.

This brings Utah to 384,173 cases, 2,101 deaths and 1,289,691 vaccines given since the beginning of the pandemic. Of these vaccines, 470,905 Utahns are considered “fully” vaccinated – meaning they have received two doses of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of a Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

In the last week, the state has an average of 419 more cases per day and a positive test rate of 3.7%. Currently, 137 Utahns have been hospitalized for COVID-19, including 56 in intensive care.

Saturday’s numbers come with 14,289 additional tests in Utah. Six of the 10 deaths reported on Saturday occurred before March 1, according to the health department. The 10 deaths include:

  • A Beaver County man between the ages of 45 and 64 who was hospitalized when he died
  • A man from Davis County, aged between 45 and 64, who was hospitalized
  • A man from Salt Lake County, aged 45 to 64, who was hospitalized
  • A woman in Davis County over the age of 85 who was a resident of a long-term care facility
  • A man from Salt Lake County over the age of 85 who was a resident of a long-term care facility
  • A woman in Salt Lake County over the age of 85 who was a resident of a long-term care facility
  • A woman in Utah County over the age of 85 who was not hospitalized when she died
  • A woman in Utah County over the age of 85 who was a resident of a long-term care facility
  • A Washington County man between the ages of 65 and 84 who was not hospitalized when he died
  • A woman from Weber County aged between 45 and 64 who was hospitalized

The health department’s coronavirus website says there are currently five long-term care facilities in Utah, with active outbreaks among residents.

As of Wednesday, all Utahs over the age of 16 are eligible to schedule a meeting to be vaccinated against COVID-19. More information is available at coronavirus.utah.gov/vaccine-distribution.
