The Philadelphia 76ers made their move ahead of schedule, acquiring George Hill from the Oklahoma City Thunder in an effort to help strengthen their backup guard position. In the process, they moved some big backups behind Joel Embiid and Dwight Howard.
The Sixers are getting the help they need with the addition of Hill, but now they need to turn their attention to the buying market as they seek to add more to the list. They moved a valuable piece to Tony Bradley in the agreement to buy Hill, so now President Daryl Morey will look to the buying market to replace him.
“The buying market is often a conversation about opportunity and role,” Morey said. “We probably have more opportunities in that big place, so I expect to buy something bigger, if we don’t. We need more. “
In Thursday’s victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, the Sixers had to join various teams. They played with Mike Scott in the center, while using Tobias Harris and Ben Simmons in 5th place.
“We feel good about Joel and Dwight,” Morey added. “The doctor, if he chooses, can provide unique groups with Ben, Tobias and Mike Scott, so that we feel good where we are, but if a purchase comes, it’s more likely big.”
Obviously, the trading deadline has just ended and there is no rush to make a room right now, but Morey and CEO Elton Brand will have a few options when the time comes.
“Obviously, that’s a lot of our work after the trading deadline,” Morey concluded. “It was a big part of our work, really at this moment, some of the players you can’t get real feedback with, because it’s the first days. I feel pretty good that someone that Coach Rivers thinks will help us will be available, but it’s too early to really give too many details about that, but we feel good about the buying market right now. ”
As for the Sixers on the floor, they are 3-0 to begin their six-game journey and will now look to keep him on Saturday against the Los Angeles Clippers.
