A 44-year-old Brazilian man who was not expected to live 24 hours after he was born upside down had to put his life on hold after catching COVID-19, according to a report.
Claudio Vieira de Oliveira, from Monte Santo, suffers from congenital multiplex arthrogryposis, a rare condition that left his head turned to the end, the USA reported.
It also left him with muscular atrophy in his legs and arms attached to his chest, but it did not stop him from leading a fulfilling life and becoming a motivational speaker.
“I have never had (difficulties), my life is normal,” he told the local G1 press.
But the ambitious and fun-loving man made the mistake and had to stay home.
“I am in full quarantine, because this COVID is very aggressive, it is lethal, so we are scared. Save me, God, from this wretched disease, “Oliveira told the press.
“I am twice as careful, I have been isolated for over a year and I leave home just to solve things that only I can do, such as banking,” he added.
Claudinho, as it is known, never let his condition stop him and he went on his knees from the age of seven. He learned to read and write at home from his mother.
And, despite its acute deformity, it has no problems seeing, breathing, eating or drinking.
Claudinho has also released a DVD, an autobiography and has given motivational speeches since 2000 – so being challenged to be co-opted.
“I miss him so much. I have a speech in the municipality of Bezerra, in the state of Pernamubco, scheduled for April 28. If the pandemic relaxes, we will continue, “he said.
Claudinho, who is a volunteer in the Christian educational project Rejoice for Vulnerable Children, told local media: “I want to support my discussions again and live many years.”
