Ever Date, a 200,000-ton container ship, is stranded in the Suez Canal, stopping traffic on one of the world’s key waterways.
Authorities have been working all Wednesday to oust the freight carrier, but it remains firmly blocked as ship traffic piles up on both sides of the canal.

The Taiwanese operator, Evergreen Marine Corp., of the ship, said in a statement that Ever Date gave birth, propelled by strong winds as it entered the Suez Canal in the Red Sea.
