The industrial company Ángel Villareal Bravo from Villa Clara, also known as Ciclos Minerva, will produce approximately 10,000 electric bicycles in 2021, the highest figure since the incorporation of that line in its business portfolio, reported the Vanguardia newspaper.

Last year, the entity, belonging to the Business Group of the Iron and Steel Industry (Gesime), reached 25 million pesos for sales of bicycles and electric tricycles, of which more than four million in freely convertible currency (MLC).

Elier Pérez Pérez, its general manager, explained to the newspaper that these results respond to its insertion in e-commerce, through the purchase gateways and through the sales in the MLC chain of stores, of the Cimex and Caribe chains.

The official said that at the moment, Ciclos Minerva has three suppliers abroad and is signing another contract, which will allow it to secure the raw material and close this year with total sales of over 150 million pesos and higher revenues in MLC.

Regarding the prospects for 2021, Pérez Pérez said that they are considering saving the mechanical bicycles, for their marketing in the national currency and in the MLC, in addition to the provision of spare parts.

It also makes other high-value productions for the country, such as the manufacture of galvanized doors for the housing program and the manufacture of pallet racks for tourism projects, financed by the company Almest Real Estate, whose process of forming metals, painting and assembly, performed in the industry itself. Pérez Pérez explained that the contracts with Almest favor the introduction of new technologies in order to perfect the finishing of their productions.

Ciclos Minerva is currently working on several development projects in the testing phase, which include five models of electric cargo and passenger tricycles, expected to be introduced in the last stage of the year, and is studying two models of electric quadricycles to incorporate them into business portfolio.
