The iPhone 13 is expected to have a smaller notch, and we can give a first look at the design potential.
Greek repair maker iRepair has offered MacRumors a supposed photo of the front glass panels for the iPhone 13 models, with the same three 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch display sizes as the iPhone 12 line. each iPhone is visibly smaller, due to the fact that the headset speaker was moved up on the top frame, a design choice that was first rumored for the iPhone 12 models last year, but failed to materialize.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and several other sources previously claimed that some Face ID components will be consolidated in the iPhone 13 models, resulting in a smaller notch, but did not mention that the headset will be repositioned.
The notch design has remained unchanged since debuting on the iPhone X in 2017. After shrinking the notch this year, Kuo said Apple plans to move to a perforated display design for at least a few iPhone 2022 models, similar to Samsung Galaxy S21 and other recent smartphones, followed by an iPhone with a true full screen design without notches or holes and a fingerprint scanner under the display since 2023.
Beyond the notch, the iPhone 13 is expected to have a design virtually identical to the iPhone 12, with the new key features rumored to include a 120Hz display on the Pro models, larger batteries, a faster A15 chip and room improvements. Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 13 range in September, marking a return to its usual launch period.
