Oilers-Canadiens postponed as two Montreal players enter NHL’s COVID-19 protocol

The game scheduled Monday night between the Edmonton Oilers and host Canadiens was postponed after two Montreal players were included in the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol.

Forwards Joel Armia and Jesperi Kotkaniemi have become the first Montreal players to enter protocol since the season began on January 13th.

The league announced the postponement less than an hour before the scheduled time of 19:00 ET at Bell Center.

The postponement was the 38th overall this season for coronavirus reasons and first involved Canada’s northern division of seven teams.

The league listed 10 players in the protocol, the Los Angeles Kings still waiting for the test results. Most of the players listed are the most suitable from February 21st.

A total of 157 NHL players have now spent at least one day in the COVID-19 protocol this season. Calgary is the only team that does not have a listed player.
