From June 1, all motorcyclists in the country will be identified with individual numbered vests, as part of the measures announced by President Luis Abinader, they will be applied in the framework of the Comprehensive Strategy for Citizen Security.
“Starting June 1, we will begin identifying all drivers who use vests with an individual number. With this we intend to reduce the number of those who use unlicensed engines and the criminal activities that, in many cases, are associated with their use.“, He explained.
He also referred to two major technological leaps which will take place in the country under this plan, such as the launch of a platform that will allow direct and real-time interaction between citizens and the police.
“From the mobile phone, with an application or an application, every Dominican will be able to submit a complaint with videos, photos and texts from the place where the events take place and can follow their case,” he said.
While the second advancement in crime-fighting technology will be the launch a modern police crime laboratory with the ability to collect and analyze DNA evidence, ballistics, fingerprints and other branches of criminology.
“Both the technology platform and the crime lab are already in the process of submitting proposals to select the most appropriate ones as soon as the evaluation and procurement processes allow.”
From a fully analogue police we will move to a more efficient digital one, this will allow us to collect, analyze and make operational decisions based on reliable data processed in real time, which also involves a transformation of the current Observatory of citizen security, to a new and renovated center for the analysis of citizen security.
