Animal Crossing, the game that really launched Nintendo’s increasingly popular live-action sim franchise back on the GameCube in 2001, could find itself winning a spot in The Strong Museum’s Hall of Fame video games.
The Strong is a museum in New York, which “hosts the largest and most comprehensive collection of historical material related to the game,” including lots of toys and video games. For a title to be accepted into the museum’s Hall of Fame, it must have “enjoyed popularity in a sustained period and exerted influence on the video game industry or on popular culture and society at large.”
In 2021, a total of twelve games were listed as potential candidates for the Hall of Fame.
– The passage of animals
– Call of Duty
– Farm Ville
– FIFA international football
– Guitar Hero
– Mattel football
– Microsoft Flight Simulator
– Pole position
– Portal
– StarCraft
– Tron
– Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?

“Nintendo The passage of animals it debuted in 2001 and found mass attraction with open social simulation and leisurely play. The players took on the role of a man who moves to a village full of anthropomorphic animals. The latest version of the game for the Nintendo Switch proved to be a great success during the isolation of the 2020 pandemic, setting the record for the most digital downloads of a console game in a single month. “
The winners will be announced on May 6, so we’ll have to wait and see if Animal Crossing succeeds or not. In recent years, games such as Red and Green Pokémon, The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Bros. have been accepted.
