Publix says the remaining doses of COVID-19 vaccine are for employees

ORLANDO, Fla. – When and if there are remnants of COVID-19 vaccines at Publix stores at the end of the day, these doses are given to employees, rather than thrown out.

“Our goal is to administer 100% of the vaccines we receive and have a process of administering vaccines to our eligible associates whenever possible, if there are doses left in a vial at the end of the night,” spokeswoman for Publix Thursday.

Across the state and across the country, vaccine hunters have turned to pharmacies and other vaccination sites, hoping to record unused photos so they don’t get lost.

Sam Torres, 36, of Orlando, said he was lucky to have a Walmart in Oviedo. He called and asked to be added to the waiting list and was invited back the same day.

“I just finished telling my boss that I signed my name for this post, so I may have to leave at any time, and two and a half hours later I get a call and I had to leave,” Torres said.

The selected locations of the Publix pharmacy began offering the vaccine in January, giving more access to the elderly who may not be able to travel to the mass vaccination sites. The program has expanded since then and all 730 Publix pharmaceutical stores offer hundreds of photos a day.

Their dedication and commitment to services have played an important role in the success of our efforts. ”
