Mexico City
A convoy of staff from the Edomex Security Secretariat (SS) and the State Attorney General’s Office (FGJEM) was ambushed by a group of organized criminals in Coatepec Flour, which left a balance of at least 13 dead items.
Of the dead, eight were state and five ministerial, according to reports.
The attack took place on Thursday in the area Large apartment, when the convoy performed patrol in the region, precisely to combat criminal groups operating in this area of the Mexican state.
“So far there is knowledge about various elements of both institutions that have lost their lives as a result of this cowardly attack and so far there is no knowledge about injuries,” FGJEM said in a statement.
Both agencies reported that, with the support of the National Guard, the Secretary of National Defense and the Secretary of the Navy, they are conducting a joint operation in this area to search for the aggressors.
“The institutions that make up the Coordination for Peacebuilding in Mexico condemn this cunning and cowardly attack and pledge not to go unpunished,” the statement said.
At the scene, FGJEM carries out procedures for the removal of corpses and the collection of evidence.
The agencies assured that the families of civil servants who died on Thursday will have the full support and backing of both institutions.
