Helotes teenager shares experience in studying the vaccine Modern COVID-19

HELOTES, Texas – A Helotes teenager feels more confident leaving her home these days after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

“I was able to go to more places and spend more time with my friends and not like worrying so much,” said 14-year-old Hannah Ross, who attended a study with the Modern COVID-19 vaccine conducted by Tekton Research.

“No one gets anywhere without medical education. If no one is willing to take the risk, then no one gets the vaccine. And so, when he said he wanted to do it, I agreed, “said Judy Ross, Hannah’s mother.

Hannah received her first blow on December 18, not knowing if it was a vaccine or a placebo.

“I had a fever for over two days, then I also had body aches, chills and fatigue,” she said.

Hannah received her second blow on January 13th.

“The second was just fever and body aches,” she said.

“She has to go every three months to have her blood drawn so she can track her antibody levels, see what they’re doing, and go for COVID testing,” said Judy Ross.

Hanna’s parents also received the COVID-19 vaccine.

“We still disguise ourselves when we go out and still distance ourselves socially, but we just don’t have to worry about whether we get it or not,” Judy Ross said.

Hannah said she feels great and does gymnastics.

“She goes to the gym about 25 hours a week now and then to competitions,” said Judy Ross.

Hanna’s mother said that vaccinating the majority of the family makes life much easier.

“We don’t care if someone isn’t masked or sitting too close,” Judy Ross said.

Moderna has also begun testing its vaccine in children under 12, which includes children up to six months old. The clinical trial, the KIDCOVE study, will enroll approximately 6,750 children in the United States and Canada.
