The salsa genre mourns the death of the conguero Jimmie Morales, who accompanied great characters on stage such as Gilberto Santa Rosa, Willie Rosario, Juan Luis Guerra and Batacumbele.
Morales, as reported, died this morning at home and the causes of death are disconnected. He was 64 years old.

The percussionist was for many years the conguero of the “Caballero de la salsa” and maintained a close and close friendship.
Another Facebook message from Melori de Morales revealed the physical departure of the musician who was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, but grew up in Bayamón from the age of nine.
“For all those who knew him personally or through music, we inform him that he has left us. He flew into the arms of our Heavenly Father. Our family is devastated by this unexpected nightmare. Morales built a four-decade career and accompanied various salsa orchestras, Latin jazz groups and singers.
Among his legacies is the creation of a conga model with his name. The internationally renowned percussion instrument company REMO also launched the “Jimmie Morales Signature Series” tumbadoras in 2005.
In 2016, he represented Puerto Rico at the China Drum Summit in Beijing. The event brought together some of the best drummers in the world. During that trip, he also taught percussion lessons in Taiwan.
