Patriots simply will not stop. After signing Jonnu Smith, Of which Godchaux, and Matt Judon to the big offers already, New England adds another profile player.
Pats signs back defensively Jalen Mills, Agent Drew Rosenhaus tells Adam Schefter of ESPN.com (Twitter link). Interestingly, Rosenhaus represents both Smith and Godchaux, so clearly he and he Bill Belichick you have a good relationship. It is a four-year transaction for Mills, worth $ 24 million, with $ 9MM guaranteed. The Patriots have been the most active team so far and are not even close.
New England entered the free agency with plenty of space for the lid and they weren’t about to let it go. A pick in the Eagles’ seventh round in 2016, Mills quickly established himself as a starter and was a huge part of the team that defeated the Patriots in Super Bowl LII as it started 15 games that year.
Known for his versatility, Mills has extensive experience in both defense and safety. His leg injuries limited him to just eight and nine games in 2018 and 2019, but he started 15 again in 2020. Last year he finished with 74 attacks, 1.5 sacks, three defending passes and an interception.
