According to local media, two people were killed and 13 others injured in a shooting at a makeshift party in a Chicago garage.
Metropolitan firefighters confirmed the provisional number of two deaths on their Twitter account.
“One of the participants started shooting at the site and hit countless people,” José Jara of the Chicago Police Department told the Chicago Tribune newspaper.
“Four weapons were found on the scene and some of the injured witnesses are still in the operating room,” said Chicago Police Chief David Brown.
According to the official, the shooting took place in the early hours of Sunday in a makeshift facility used as an auto repair shop.
Chicago, the third largest city in the United States, is plagued by criminal gangs and has a heavy flow of weapons.
