SALT LAKE CITY – A black-tailed black shit that escaped Tracy Aviary on Friday was located nearby on Saturday morning.
A spokeswoman for the aviary said the cockatoo, named Matilda, was “flying with her guard when she was caught in a gust of wind and threw” the property Friday afternoon around 3 p.m. Thanks to advice from neighbors, Matilda was located on Saturday just one block from the aviary.
“Many thanks to our community for their support and kind words at this stressful time,” the aviary wrote on Facebook, adding that its employees had a “long night” looking for the bird.

It’s not the first time Tracy Aviary has a renegade shitty quarrel. Matilda also escaped from the aviary in January 2020 to be found safely in a nearby Liberty Park tree.
Matilda first escaped in 2013, when she was less than a year old, and was not recovered for three days.
