Thomas Tuchel has now lost 12 games since being named manager, but his team was pushed to Elland Road on Saturday.
A 0-0 draw is a long reflection on performance, leaving Chelsea in fourth place and two points behind Leicester City, in third place, who has a game in hand. If West Ham, Everton and Tottenham win their two games in hand, the Blues could fall to seventh.
Leeds saw an early effort by Tyler Roberts correctly ruled out for offside and then Chelsea came close due to a tangle in Leeds defense, Luke Ayling hitting the ball in teammate Diego Llorente with the ball spinning towards the hosts’ goal and hitting the bar.
Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy did well to turn a curling shot from Roberts into the bar and had to be on alert several times after the break.
