Prince Charles wanted to give up after Harry and Meghan’s interview

Prince Charles wanted to offer a point-by-point rejection of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s grandmother to Oprah Winfrey – but the royal family decided not to enter a “tit-for-tat”.

The Prince of Wales is upset by Harry’s comments during the interview in which he claimed that his father no longer accepted his calls in the run-up to Megxit, Sun reported.

Charles, 72, is also “deeply” concerned about the accusation that the royal family discussed “how dark” the skin of the Archie couple’s son was when he was born.

“There were different reactions when the palace found out what to do,” a source told the Sun. “One, to take the queen’s opinion, to issue a quiet statement, saying that we are unhappy to hear that they were unhappy.

“But Prince Charles wanted to reject, point by point, the claims that were made,” the source said, adding that the royal family had decided against it.

In her 64-word statement, the queen said: “The whole family is saddened to learn how challenging the last years have been for Harry and Meghan.

“The issues raised, especially those related to race, are worrying. Although some memories may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be approached privately by the family, “she added.

Charles was caught in an awkward spot this week during a tour of a COVID-19 vaccine distribution site, where he was asked if he watched the interview and, if so, what he thought of it.

The king simply chuckled and left the unit.

In a conversation with Oprah, Harry claimed that his father had stopped receiving phone calls for a while.

“When I was in Canada, I had three conversations with my grandmother and two conversations with my father before he stopped receiving my calls,” said the 36-year-old.

“It simply came to our notice then. I have to do this for my family. I have to do something for my own mental health, for my wife and for Archie, ”he added.
