Queen Elizabeth II will begin privately questioning superior kings over claims of racism – while her 99-year-old husband, Prince Philip, spends his 23rd day in hospital after surgery to the heart, according to reports.
The 94-year-old monarch said the alarming statements of Prince Harry’s nephew and his wife, Meghan Markle, during their interview with Oprah Winfrey would be “privately addressed by the family”.
Sources told Sun that she will begin confronting the top kings individually about the allegations – including Harry himself.
The main focus will be on Harry’s assertion that at least one family member has expressed concern about “how dark” his mixed-race children would be, which the queen called particularly “worrying.”
Harry struggled to tell Oprah that neither the queen nor her husband, Philip, had made a racially charged remark.
But the monarch will interview all other royal figures, said the Sun, including Harry’s father, heir to the throne, Prince Charles, who appears to be “deeply” concerned about claiming skin color.
“It goes against everything the Prince of Wales believes,” a source told Evening Standard, using Charles’ formal title. “He believes that diversity is the strength of our society.”
Others who could be interviewed include Harry’s brother, Prince William and his wife, Kate, the Sun said.
However, some royal scholars believe that the queen’s statement that “memories may vary” suggests that she already knows who made the inflammatory remark.
“Clearly, she spoke to the person who allegedly remarked on Archie and offered her their version of events,” royal author Phil Dampier told Sun.
The drama comes as the family faces the constant stress of Philip’s extensive hospitalization due to heart problems.
Philip – who will turn 100 in June – was hospitalized on February 16 at London’s King Edward VII Private Hospital as a “precautionary measure” after feeling unwell.
He was later transferred to St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, where he underwent “successful” heart surgery earlier this month.
