The Portuguese star did not hold firm, Sergio Oliveira’s free kick went through his feet and passed Wojciech Szczesny in extra time
Cristiano Ronaldo was called up because he turned his back on a wall at the decisive goal of Porto’s free kick, while Juventus collapsed in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Porto, with ten men, got a major upset in the last 16, losing the second leg 3-2 to Torino after extra time, but advancing through away goals with an overall result of 4-4.
The equalizer came with only five minutes left in the second half of extra time, as Sergio Oliveira’s long-range free-kick went under Juve’s wall and passed goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
What happened in Tuesday’s game?
After winning the first leg 2-1 at home, Porto scored a massive away goal in the 19th minute, when Oliveira’s penalty made it 3-1 in total.
But Juve rejected it through Federico Chiesa, who scored two goals in the second half on both sides of a second yellow card for Mehdi Taremi from Porto.
Although he was an old man, Juve could not find a winner, and Oliveira’s second goal of the night came when Juve’s wall disintegrated – Ronaldo being guilty of turning his back and raising his leg, allowing the balls to go through the legs.
Adrien Rabiot’s late goal was just a consolation, as Juve came out of the competition, ensuring that Ronaldo’s expectation for European glory with the Italian side will continue.
What was said on social media?
“Ronaldo would not let this happen,” a constant sentence he heard when Messi and Barca were eliminated by Liverpool and Bayern. But if this were true, why was Ronaldo thrown out of Ajax, Lyon and now Porto in the last 3 years? How did he let that happen?

Ronaldo will be blamed for not being strong in the wall, but the real bastard is that Juventus did not create a single chance in 210 minutes of football

Porto definitely pinched him. I finally found something Ronaldo can’t do: sit on a wall. Blimey, Juve scored again. 4-4 and Porto lead away goals. The Bonker Game.

🗣: Juve in the two games took too many goals from their own mistakes. The penalty kick was a gift from Demiral, but the worst is that of Ronaldo in the wall, it is an unforgivable mistake.

Jamie Carragher put it best on CBS right now – “These are things for the Ronaldo school boys.”
The whole wall is not covered in glory here, but especially Ronaldo who does not even look at the ball. The little things make the difference in these knockout tournaments. pic.twitter.com/6mUiQNN1o3
