Hans Westerhof, former technical director of Chivas Yes Necaxa as well as a youth coach in Pachuca, replied to Hugo Sanchez after showing that Mexicans are among those who work the most in the world, something he recognized, but not when it comes to footballers.
In early February, the Dutchman pointed out that Mexican players don’t like to work and that they do not have a strong mentality to achieve their dreams, which he exemplified with the training he did with the Sacred Flock where some asked him to stop and on occasions when young coughs they said they wanted to go to Europe without even studying other languages.
“I want to answer Hugo Sánchez, I saw the broadcast of the program (Futbol Picante). I never said Mexicans don’t like to work, In contrast to the, We only talked about footballers in Mexico, which is a huge difference, ”said Westerhof.
“When you talk to Guardado, Chicharito, Herrera or Guti, everyone says that In Europe they train harder, they train harder, trains more specifically. This is not just my idea, it is what is happening, but I know it Mexicans work a lot, harder, for sure”.
“I love Mexicans”
The coach insisted on the affection he has for the country and for the Mexicans, which will not change; the only problem is convincing them that they need to be more disciplined in order to work and achieve their goals, which at least he has seen in a few cases.
“I love Mexicans, but I just want to say that the difference in Mexico and Europe … is different; it is also different because of the weather, because in our country it is more intense. We never stop, we stop to drink water (relax, rest, breathe) which is normal in Mexico ”.
