LA vaccination sites will administer 88,000 photos this week – NBC Los Angeles

Mayor Eric Garcetti announced Sunday that vaccination sites in the city will increase appointments for the first dose this week, managing a total of 88,000 photos in seven permanent locations and eight mobile clinics.

“Vaccines are our ticket to ending the pandemic, saving lives, rebuilding our communities and giving hope for a healthier future,” Garcetti said. “We still have a long way to go to vaccinate as many Angelenos as safely and quickly as possible – and a larger and more consistent supply of doses this week means we can bring relief to more seniors, frontline employees and key workers, and any eligible person a vaccine in our city “.

The vaccination effort is led by the billionaire owner of the LA Times. Mekhalo Medina reported to NBC4 News on Sunday, March 7, 2021.

Last week, Garcetti said Los Angeles exceeded half a million doses administered at city-administered locations, and the supply expected this week will allow these sites to offer nearly 68,000 appointments for the first dose, along with 20,000. for the second dose.

Deliveries include 54,000 doses of Moderna vaccine and 25,000 from Johnson & Johnson, distributed in locations in San Fernando Park, Hansen Dam, Crenshaw Christian Center, Lincoln Park, Pierce College, USC University Park and Dodger Stadium.

Johnson & Johnson’s delivery this week is exceptional, as officials do not expect to receive more from the single-dose vaccine for weeks. In addition, the city expects the supply of all vaccines to be lower in the coming weeks, at least until April.

Another 7,000-dose delivery from Pfizer will be administered through the city’s mobile emergency program for Vaccine Equity. This week, officials will add an additional mobile unit to the rotation for a total of eight teams that will serve vulnerable communities in Los Angeles, including South LA, East LA and San Fernando Valley, in neighborhoods such as Boyle Heights, Green Meadows, Sylmar , Arleta and Glassell Park.

Officials said the MOVE program has delivered more than 16,000 doses since its launch, with more than 90 percent of those vaccinated being people of color.

This week will also mark the opening of the city’s latest vaccination center on USC’s University Park campus. The city’s sites will remain open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the exception of Dodger Stadium, which will operate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the rest of the week.

City sites will offer appointments for the second dose this week for Angelenos who received their first dose in a small town between February 8 and February 15. Los Angeles has now begun making automatic reservations for the second dose weeks in advance for anyone receiving the first dose on a city website.

Patients should be aware that the date on the CDC vaccination cards received after their first dose is not a confirmation of the appointment. Instead, everyone should follow the scheduling details provided by Carbon Health via email and / or text.
