At the end of his first day in Iraq, Pope Francis met with young people participating in the programs of the Scholas Occurentes Foundation in Baghdad.
A statement from the Holy See Press Office stated that the young people come from various religious denominations in the country and were accompanied by the coordinator of the Foundation for Italy, Mario Del Verme.
Dreams for the future
“Each of the young people told the Pope what he dreamed of for their future,” the press release said, “and the Holy Father invited them to hope and look for the stars that could guide them on their path.”
The short meeting took place on the return of the Holy Father to the Apostolic Nuncio in Baghdad, where he is during his visit. The meeting with the young people from Scholas Occurentes ended shortly after 18:30, local time.
