The president begins work to expand the San Isidro Highway

On Thursday, President Luis Abinader gave the first floor to begin expansion work on Colonel Rafael Fernández Domínguez Boulevard, better known as the San Isidro Highway.

The project envisages the construction of two new lanes to increase road capacity from two to four lanes in each direction of traffic, with an investment of RD $ 800 million, of which RD $ 600 million is in this year’s budget.

The municipalities are happy for this announcement and hope that the boulevard will be completed in the promised time, because the lack of sidewalks and an island to cross safely from side to side has been a problem that has affected them for years. . Esther Ramírez was preparing to cross the aforementioned boulevard with two children, when Listín Diario reporters asked her for her opinion on the president’s announcement, making sure it was something they had been waiting for a long time.

Juan Heredia, a resident of a condominium located on the San Isidro Highway, was pleased to say that there are many accidents that occur daily in that place.

“Many accidents happen here, there are no sidewalks or pedestrian bridges, in addition, there are many accidents due to the inconvenience of the boulevard,” he said.

Details about the work

The Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascensión, assured that the occupied areas will be recovered and that, at the end of the works, the municipalities will be able to walk on the sidewalks without having to risk their lives.
