The minister suggests a new round of disagreements over the electricity pact

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Antonio Almonte, on Wednesday favored the Economic and Social Council (ESC) to convene a new round of talks to debate the 14 dissents of the recently signed Electricity Pact.

He said that the aim of the Government, as an actor in the pact, is to continue to manage further discussions and conversations around disagreements and other issues, in order to carry out the electricity reform that

the country needs. “We do not consider that the content of the pact is the sum of everything possible and good, but rather that it has a positive content, but it is still necessary to consolidate with new proposals which is the way forward in the reform of electricity sector” the official interviewed on the television program.

About the social sector

Regarding the complaint from the social sector that the ETUC was not invited to sign the pact, Almonte said that the document contained a summary of the discussions of all sectors that, for 3 years, participated in debates and voted in assemblies for those 212 Consensus on the Pact on Electricity.

“There was no representation of the social sector, nor did they vote, nor did they propose, nor are there any good proposals that are representative of the social sector, but that they have other objections as to when the pact should be signed, and under what conditions, “he said.

He stated that the points agreed upon at the signing were the result of the debates and votes of all those who had participated in the pact at the time, including representatives of the social sector.
