More than three-quarters of one million doses of COVID-19 vaccine were given in Utah, and more than a quarter of a million Utahns received the second dose of vaccine. This represents about 8.4% of the population of the state that received two doses.
Utah reported seven more deaths Wednesday; five of these occurred before February 10 and have only recently been confirmed to be related to coronavirus. The state forensic doctor established that one of the deaths reported on Monday – a man from Iron County, aged 65-84 – was not caused by COVID-19, and the man’s death was eliminated from the state account.
Past vaccinations / total vaccinations • 18,236 / 759,533.
Number of Utahns who received two doses • 269,368.
Cases reported the other day • 729.
Deaths reported last day • Seven.
Salt Lake County reported five deaths: a man and a woman between the ages of 45 and 64; a man and a woman 65-84; and an 85-year-old woman.
There were deaths in Box Elder and Washington counties, both men 65-84.
Hospitalizations reported last day • 212. One fell on Tuesday. Of those currently hospitalized, 92 are in intensive care units – the same as on Tuesday.
Tests reported the other day • 8,249 people were tested for the first time. A total of 21,267 people were tested.
Percentage of positive tests • According to the initial state method, the rate is 8.8%. This is lower than the seven-day average of 10.2%.
His new method counts all test results, including repeated tests of the same individual. Wednesday’s rate is now 3.4%, lower than the seven-day average of 4.8%.

Totals so far • 372,708 cases; 1,949 deaths; 14,783 hospitalizations; 2,222,755 people tested.
