Taxi Chaos is not Crazy taxi. But it tries to be and succeeds in some important ways, while it fails completely in many others. Please note this warning: Do not buy Taxi Chaos. But if so, I can help you improve the game.
I understand why some people could be tempted to buy Taxi Chaos, especially if you’re like me, a fan of the fantastic Sega Crazy taxi series. More than 12 years have passed since the launch of the last one Crazy taxi game (I don’t count them mediocre mobile spin-off games), and the last entry was a port of arcade games to the PSP. So a possible elimination could be tempting
But it costs $ 30, and that’s far too much for such a small and stupid game. A price of $ 10 or even $ 15 would be more reasonable. However, there is something good buried under evil.
The management is the real star of the show and to give credit to the developers behind it Taxi Chaos, mostly nailed it. Keeping yourself around the streets of the game in New York City feels good. You can even make a big bunny that I don’t remember being in Crazy Taxi, but it is a cool and useful move. Whenever I come across a big mess of cars and buses, I could jump over them. I almost felt like I was cheating, but it also saved me time. And in Crazy taxi…I mean Taxi Chaos, time means money.

Taxi Chaos he also looks beautiful. It works pretty well, at least it worked on the Xbox Series X. It features stylized images that work perfectly for a game so fast. There are a few text issues and simple-looking buildings around the city that stand out, but nothing too horrible.
However, this game has some of the most annoying dialogues I’ve ever encountered. And it repeats itself. Over and over and over and over and over. During one session, I heard the same line repeated four times. After playing only 20 minutes, I heard every line of dialogue in this game at least a dozen times. In addition, it has terrible, generic “rock” music, a small map to move around and only two soft drivers to choose from. This is added to do Taxi Chaos feel like a very cheap budget title.
If you buy Taxi Chaos (which again, you shouldn’t), here are my tips to improve your experience. First, lower the music and audio dialogue levels in the game to 0. Then, play some descendants or Bad Religion using your favorite music streaming service. Suddenly, Taxi Chaos it becomes more playful. Still not worth $ 30, but better.
Of course, you could save $ 20 and buy XBLA port of Crazy Taxi, which costs only $ 10. It lacks some of the original music and doesn’t look as beautiful as it used to Taxi Chaos, but it is compatible with previous versions on Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S and is a much better game.
And who knows, maybe if a lot of people buy Crazy Taxi, someone from Sega will remember how popular the series is and will let a studio make a crack at making a new, real Crazy taxi game. Until then, I think I’ll play more Taxi Chaos.
