Jaguar Land Rover beats back a quarter of its production in the next five years, Car news reports. The news came through a presentation by investors.

If there is a popular JLR car that you know and love, however, don’t worry too much – the brand discounts will come mainly in the form of projects that have been announced but have not yet started, such as the Jaguar sedan XJ who has already reported that it will not happen.

JLR has promised to keep all its production units – it’s just a way to pave the way for future development, especially in the production of electric vehicles. Jaguar will be fully electric by 2025, with Land Rover joining the party by 2039. JLR will take these resources and channel them into creating a unique style of electrification.

This news comes back new CEO Thierry Bollore announced that JLR’s break-even point in terms of car sales has been reduced from 600,000 to 400,000. If you have the flexibility to redo your operation, now is a good time to do it.

Car news also reported that JLR is looking to partner with an outside company for create that all-electric platform. It would be expensive for you to try to create that internal platform; it takes a lot of research and trial and error before car companies can really perfect their EV base; it will be necessary for JLR to find that external partner if it wants to have a fully electric Jaguar range by 2025. According to Bollore, the decision to work with a partner “was a matter of scale and speed to go to market. ”

Makes sense. Ford did a similar thing using Volkswagen’s all-electric MBE platform to develop its new electric vehicle host. Companies that have made an advanced start in the development of electric platforms will be able to benefit from the fact that other car manufacturers now realize that they will need a solid foundation on which to develop their future carbon-free plans.
