TV ratings and viewer numbers will always be the most important measuring sticks to determine your results.
WWE has had a fair share of struggles with declining TV ratings during the fight pandemic, and the arrival of AEW has only increased control over TV rating trends. While the numbers in the United States have been steadily low, except for a few short peaks, spectators in other countries present a promising picture for WWE.
Michael Morales and Miguel Perez of Lucha Libre Online have released exclusive information about WWE ratings outside the United States. Based on reports Lucha Libre Online, India is one of the most prominent markets in the WWE, as the country has attracted staggering numbers.
The average viewing for RAW in India for January 2021 was over 4 million viewers per week. SmackDown attracted 3 million a week, while NXT managed to attract just over one million in the first month of the new year.
South Africa attracted an average of over 1 million viewers for both RAW and SmackDown. Canada, Germany and Italy attracted about 300,000 viewers a week for RAW and SmackDown, respectively.
The report had only the SmakDown number for South Korea, which was over 300,000 viewers. RAW figures were not available.
These impressive numbers are only half the story for WWE
WWE managed to attract an average of 5.9 million viewers for RAW in January 2021 from India, Canada, Germany, South Africa and Italy. For SmackDown, which also included the South Korean market, WWE attracted about 5.2 million viewers.
The report quickly noted that these figures do not yet reveal the full story, as many countries and markets have been left out. It should be noted that WWE broadcasts a litany of programs in Latin America, the United Kingdom, China, Japan and a few other locations.
SmackDown has maintained a steady evolution in the US in 2021, as the Blue brand has remained above the two million mark. RAW officials were not so lucky that the Red brand managed to attract around 1.85 million viewers in January 2021.
The Lucha Libre Online report ended with the following details:
The approximate actual rating between the aforementioned countries and the United States for Raw amounts to 7.2 million viewers per week as of January 2021. While Raw has an average of 7.75 million viewers in the aforementioned countries.
The biggest remission of the report was the absolute importance of the WWE TV deal in India. WWE’s remarkable progress in India explains why the company has invested so much time in organizing a separate show for Indian fans.
The WWE Superstar Show was a successful event and there are reported plans to start a weekly show and push your own talents and stories.
