Canelo: I Beat The Best and critics say it doesn’t look the same

At the age of 30, Mexican superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is motivated to become the first Mexican boxer to be an undisputed four-belt world champion.

In December, he won WBC, super-middleweight WBA titles, with a dominance of Callum Smith for a 12-round decision.

He returned to Miami on Saturday night, where he will face the reigning world champion Avni Yildirim at Hard Rock Stadium.

If he wins, Canelo will return to the ring on May 8 in a unification showdown with WBO world champion Billy Joe Saunders.

And a victory over Saunders could lead to an autumn clash with IBF world champion Caleb Plant.

When his career finally ends, Canelo wants to be seen as one of the best fighters in boxing history.

“It simply came to our notice then [where I land in history], right now I’m making my career, I’m making history and we’ll see where I’m positioned when I retire …… yes, you have to look at this depending on victories, depending on numbers and championships, this is how it should be done ” Canelo told Erika Montoya.

For the past few years, Canelo has been attacked by a lot of critics – because I don’t think he’s up against the best people out there.

Canelo disagrees, explaining that he confronts the best there and makes them look ordinary.

“Almost all the criticism is unfair. Because when I win the best I say that the opponent did not look the same as in the past. Why is this happening? Because I have an opponent who doesn’t allow them to do anything, an opponent who cancels them. [The critics] I want to find the weak side for everything, I never give credit. But I’m used to it, “Canelo said.
