An Illinois lawmaker has introduced a bill banning Grand Theft Auto and other violent video games amid a rise in Chicago cars, a report said.
Democratic Rep. Marcus Evans Jr., who is part of Windy City, introduced legislation Friday to amend an existing state law banning the sale of certain video games to minors, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
The law would ban the sale of video games that present “psychological damage”, including cars, to everyone, not just minors, the report said.
“The bill would ban the sale of some of these games that promote the activities we suffer in our communities,” Evans told the newspaper.
Last month, 218 car attacks were reported in Chicago.
The bill also extends the definition of what constitutes a “violent video game”.
