Daisy Ridley responded to Texas Senator Ted Cruz by throwing a shot at the Star Wars character while defending Gina Carano following her dismissal from Disney.
The 28-year-old English actress, who played the lead role in Rey in three Star Wars movies during an interview with Yahoo Entertainment on Tuesday, was asked about the 50-year-old Cruz on Twitter earlier this year. Monday in defense of Carano, 38.

Apparently, Cruz was referring to Ridley’s character, Rey, who was traumatized as an orphan after the murder of her parents, and the actress admitted that she was not aware of his tweet.
“I didn’t know and I’m very happy to be an emotionally tortured Jedi, who doesn’t leave his state when he’s in a terrible moment,” Ridley applauded.
The actress was referring to Cruz’s widely criticized decision earlier this month to go to Cancun, Mexico, with her family, while Texas was hit by a historic winter storm that left about 4.3 million without energy and millions without drinking water.
Ridley is promoting his upcoming film Chaos Walking, which premiered Wednesday in South Korea.

Ridley will also star in The Marsh King’s Daughter, after playing Helena in Neil Burger’s upcoming film, an adaptation of the best-selling psychological thriller novel of the same name by Karen Dionne.
