Biden gives hope to more than 40,000 Dominicans who are waiting for a residence permit

The President of the United States continues to take measures that fill immigrants and their families with hope, with immediate action, such as lifting former President Donald Trump’s injunction to abolish residence visas.

The pandemic was the first “stop” for the more than 40,000 Dominicans on the waiting list to immigrate to the United States on a residency visa in 2020, with the consulate closing, but all hope was cut when Trump entered. The last order 10014 was issued in April and then extended to December and later March 31st.

That proclamation restricted the entry of immigrants and non-immigrants who were considered an occupational hazard to Americans.

The consulate is still closed, but that order was withdrawn by Biden and yet another air is breathed between wives, children, parents and other family members who have gone through the exacting procedures of the US authorities and are only waiting for a consular appointment. The approval is of course determined by the consul.

The specialist Roque Leonel Rodriguez He said it now depends on the State Department to enable appointments for these people and arrange the opening of consulates, as they are governed by health protocols independent of those actions, to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

“I ask all the people on the waiting list to be patient, they are already closer and I am sure the consulate intends to send them to the United States as soon as possible.”

He said that, like everyone who works on immigration and those who think about emigration, ‘we can’t find how to thank President Biden because there are thousands of people, with all kinds of suffering and circumstances, waiting for their relatives. This situation affected the couple’s relationship because of their divorce, pending their reunion ”.

The United States grants an average of 252,000 residency visas or “green cards” per year worldwide, and in the case of Dominicans, the quota is about 38,000 homes for immediate family members of United States citizens and residents.
