EAST LANSING, Mich. – Official Angie Enlund was injured Wednesday at the end of the Rutgers-Michigan State women’s basketball game and taken to hospital.
After the final buzzer, Rutgers player Tekia Mack was heading to the Scarlet Knights bench when she accidentally ran over Enlund in midfield, hitting her hard.
Enlund was on the ground for a few minutes and took off on a stretcher. She had mobility and movement of her limbs and went to a hospital for further evaluation.
A Michigan spokeswoman said Enlund would be hospitalized overnight with a contusion, but had no fractures.
“I know she’s been unconscious for a while,” said Michigan coach Suzy Merchant. “They took her in an ambulance, but it’s a very scary and serious thing. It hit very, very hard. She hit her head very hard, so I would just pray for her and her family and I hope she will be fine. ”
The Rutgers players gathered in front of their bench, holding hands in a circle praying for Enlund.
